How the Israeli tax calculator works

Israel uses a progressive income tax system with seven brackets ranging from 10% to 50%. On top of income tax, employees and the self-employed pay National Insurance and health tax on a tiered basis. Credit points then reduce the final income-tax bill — every resident gets at least 2.25 points, with extra points for women, parents, new immigrants (olim), and discharged soldiers.

    Employees vs. self-employed

Income-tax brackets are identical, but National Insurance rates differ: employees pay 3.5% up to ₪7,122/month and 12% above, while the self-employed pay 2.87% and 12.83%. The self-employed can also deduct business expenses.
